| Upholstery Instruction, Skills and Techniques |
|
||
| The first step in upholstering is to list the parts that need to be cut. For constructing a fully upholstered piece of furniture such as sofa or wing chair, you need a slightly different approach to wood work. Upholstery of good quality is deserved by well-constructed furniture. Furniture can be upholstered several times during its lifetime. Before upholstery, the first step is to remove the old fabric, the stuffing, springs and webbing and then finally you are left with just a frame. In addition to upholstery skills, upholsterer needs to possess an understanding of the upholstery techniques and a clear picture of how the finished piece would look, taking into account the age and style of the frame and profile of the upholstery. For some objects, traditional upholstery methods may be considered appropriate to keep all materials together with support lashing methods. To support two or three layers of original stuffing, new rows of stitching may be required. To stabilize the materials, traditional stitching techniques are considered to be more convenient and successful as well. | |||
